You can't get a two people to agree on anything completely, let alone trying to achieve a total happiness or zen. Unfortunately, life will continue this way until we eventually destroy ourselves.

It would be totally awesome but it will never happen.. :P that's the truth. It's in human nature to get envious, aggressive and destructive. There will always be someone to ruin what other build up ;P And as The Sniper from TF2 said.. "As long as there's two people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead."

I disagree somehow, the way I see people and how and why we act depends merely on our sense of action/consequence understanding. Basically one of the many factors that make a person diferent from another is the way how they understand or take into account the cosequences of their actions.

But the part that agrees with you is this one: we follow an individualist partnern (not as individualist as we see on more simple creatures like crabs) therefor although we are sociable beings we still stand for ourselves. Its not that bad if you consider that our society although slowed down by the selfish behaviour keeps on evolving. I know the evolution of human societies isnt as fast as we think it may be, but consider the ants as well, a single ant lacks that selfish behaviour, but what happens to her in her "society" she is just a pawn that can be sacrificed at any point. And there we see the actual perfect socialist community, where everybody works and sacrifices for everyone else. But after all ants may have theoretically the most perfect society, but do they have internet? or a health care? or anything pretty or fun to do?

Well I can only suggest you to accept society as what it is, yeah it may have utterly disgusting disadvantages but there is an enormous range of things that society can offer to you, dont forget to consider as many aspects as possible. I know the society questioning stage is common at some point, but when you realize that you could either be an ant or a crab you get the feeling of pride to be a human. Thats the way I see it, its not my whole theory but I hope it helps you somehow to understand why we act in selfish ways. Oh and also keep in mind that our society keeps on evolving and that people on high political are people and hence they will commit the same kind of actions everyone does, only that they have a much larger scale of things to screw up/steal/loose/win/ etc.
